Keep it simple, focus on the basics.
For a great wedding you need four essential elements – great food, a good band/ entertainment, a great place to host it, and a talented photographer to capture it all. All the other bits are nice to have, but you need to get the basics right first.
Look after your guests, especially during drinks reception
This is the key part to your wedding day. If you get the drinks reception right and everyone is in a good mood, that will continue for the rest of the day/evening. Make sure your guests are well fed and entertained.
Plan, plan, plan… and then hand it over
On your wedding day you should try to relax and take in the whole experience. Try not to get bogged down in co-ordinating everything on the day. Have that all planned in advance write it down and ask someone else to look after it on your day. That will leave you free to enjoy your big day
Trust your vendors!
Your vendors want your day to be a roaring success. They have vast experience and whatever problem arises, they probably have dealt with it before. Go to them with any problems and listen to their advice.
Top Tips from some of Lawlor’s vendors
Celebrant Elizabeth Hadnett shares her tips for creating your own personalised vows:
• Vows are essentially the heart of a wedding ceremony, it’s the moment where you express your love for each other in front of your nearest and dearest. The vows are the moment that your whole ceremony builds up to, and often the part that people look forward to hearing most, the ahh moment, so let’s make it amazing! In my experience vow’s fall into three categories, create your own, repeat after me and I do’s.
• There is no need for couples to learn vows by heart as I will have them printed and of course tissues are always on standby for that emotional tear.
• Vows can be so incredibly special, whatever style of vow you choose, you can make it meaningful and beautiful for both you and your guests!
Photographs are a lasting memory of the big day, photographers Couple.ie has one top tip:
• Couples put a lot of time into choosing the photographer for their big day they think suits them the most. And once booked, may sit back and go job done. But, make sure you put enough time into a consultation before the wedding to plan the photos and timing of the day. It will mean your expectations are met and you are happy with your wedding photos!
